  Need some good reasoning points

  i need to try and get my wife to examine her beliefs.

  i hope to do this by getting her to think on her own.

  i've already tryed doctrinal issues with no success.

  try watching CNN - that anderson guy - they have really been covering the poligamy story about Warren Jeffs, all angles.
  There has been quite a few comments (esp last night) about how loyal these people are and why. How the slightest hint that their lifestyle (beliefs) are challenged (threatened) and they could possibly have another waco.
  substitute WJ for the GB of the WT and their stories are very similar, emphasis on different things, same indoctrination.

  I found it extremely moving. The love between mother and son is what got to me the most and that love in its purest sense - parent/child is at the core of it all - I think gibson was brilliant.
  I didn't enjoy the torture, but I felt that without all the sugar coat assumptions the experience was total.
  the satan personna certainly lived up to evil incarnate.

  hello, this is my first time posting here after finding this site a few weeks back.

  i studied jehovah witness teachings for a brief time, when i knew little of the bible during my teen years, but fortunately came to realize the witnesses were not christian at all.. however since i was teen i have followed and enjoyed the music of prince more than any other singer/artist.

  i always loved his ability to express both the carnal and the spiritual in his songs, the very thing that makes us human.

  I noticed in the local paper the other day, a letter to the editor written by an old WT nemisis from this "territory" .
  I haven't heard from or about him in years and I was wondering about him the other day - alive or dead etc.
  When I first started to research, he came to the rescue (thru a friend)
  for $10.00 I got a 2" thick stack of photocopies of old WT, highlighted, comparison sheets, quotes, etc. to which he has all the originals.
  He also had tracts which he'd put together himself - and used as handouts.!
  Everything one needed to get the ????s rolling.
  
  (He's been an Xjw advocate since the 70s - but never one himself. He has some great stories, Always carries a copy of the bill of rights,
  and is well known in these parts)

  Well put Drew:
  I have no problem at all with young kids getting baptised to serve God. I DO HAVE A PROBLEM if that baptism is then held over them the rest of their life in the form of organizational membership, with alligence to the WTS alone.

  there is also an online book out there showing the 125 places in the NT where the JWs have inserted the word Jehovah where there is no OT reference, and it just SHOULD NOT BE! 237 times in the NWT minus 112 that have a Hebrew Script quote = 125.
  
  they have only inserted it to back up THEIR OWN interpretation changing the word for word TRANSLATION. Used with the Diaglott - this deceptive practice is suspect.

  The topic whether the bible is written by god is a dead end in my mind. You would be arguing a belief which is not based on fact. If it was based on fact - it would not be a "belief".
  
  You might try a different avenue. Work with facts. IF THEIR BELIEF is truly GOD, and GOD cannot lie, then the exposed lies of the WT would show it is NOT God's right hand.
  
  Lies and deceit are easier to pick out & show. - add the WT years of the kings for 607 - you'll come up with 587 using Alleymom's KISS method
  and try Rebel8's MISquotes webpage.
  
  A real God doesn't have to trick people into following him.

  they should get real busy - since so many are waking up and removing their WT glasses - the working membership left behind are desparate for validation.
  
  There is so much support available now for those who NEED to leave..... even so many books with titles about spiritual abuse - just the thought that something like this exists can give someone the courage to "re-examine" their situation.

  I got the call today, only one problem

  well i just got home and i have a message on my machine saying that there will be a meeting tomorrow at the kingdom hall at 8:30pm for my appeal.

  however, they said on the recording that i will be responsible for getting my own ride there.

  there in lies the problem as i don't have a car right now.
